Premier Lorne Calvert
Dear Mr. Calvert,
Re: Constitutional Challenge to the Firearms Act
Thank you for your reply of 30 May 2007 concerning our continuing fight with the federal government and the unjust Firearms Act. I am extremely disappointed that you seem so willing to allow the federal government to violate our Right and Freedoms.
As the enclosed court documents state, on Thursday, 16 August 2007, we will appear in Court of Queen’s Bench in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, in an attempt to have the court declare Criminal Code Section 117.03 and the corresponding section of the Firearms Act ultra vires the authority of Parliament.
As we have been involved in this fight unassisted for over three years, I would appreciate your contacting your Minister of Justice, the Honourable Frank Quennell and asking him to intervene in our behalf.
With a provincial election eminent, the time seems appropriate for you to uphold your responsibility under the Constitutional Act , Section 92 (13) “Property and Civil Rights in the Province,” or to declare publicly that you have completely abdicated this part of your job.
I trust that you and Mr. Quennell will join us in our fight.
