In reply to your Campaign Update: Action Required message of this date.
I have been a Conservative supporter all my life. I have worked on campaigns and always supported my candidate. I will do so in the future because he is a very good, respected, and honest representative. I am currently a Conservative Party member.
However, I will no longer contribute money to this Party. I brought many of my associates into the fold who were formerly NDP and Liberal, but were firearms enthusiasts from collectors, to target shooters, to hunters. These people voted for our Party because of the solemn promise made both in 2002, and again by Policy in 2005. As far as I know that policy did not legally change, but has been abridged without a consensus at the Party's last two AGMs.
We were promised repeal of Bill C-68 that makes us "Criminals by Permission" and God help us if we lose that "permission" by an inadvertent failure to renew that "permission" called a vicious and privacy invading "PAL" which considers and treats honest Canadians worse than hardened violent criminals. Of course, you know all that.
The good people of High River can attest to that as can many hundreds of others. They were victimized twice - first by the flood, and then they were kept inordinately long from their homes with spike belts and armored cars, while the atrocious gun "door smash and grab" was underway.
Therefore I cannot ethically and in good conscience donate any further to this Party that has left its largest block of voters in "criminal limbo."
Please contact me again when Bill C-68 is repealed, and we finally have an honest approach to firearms (property) ownership that respects the rights and freedoms we have traditionally enjoyed for generations, as promised.
